A familiar face will be returning to the city government job he retired from two years ago. Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced Wednesday she intends to appoint Dan Marvin as the next Urban Development Director.
Marvin served as director from 2019 until July 2023 and is currently retired. If approved by the City Council, he will start July 14. Marvin replaces Peter Hind, who served as director since 2023. “Dan Marvin brings deep experience, trusted leadership, and a track record of delivering results,” Gaylor Baird says. “”With Dan back on the team, we will keep delivering transformative projects that boost our economy, strengthen our neighborhoods, and grow the great life for all in Lincoln.”
Hind announced in March he had accepted the position of Chester E. Dean Endowed Professional Chair in Architecture and Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design in Lawrence, Kansas. Hind’s last day with the City will be August 1.
“I’m honored to return to the Urban Development Department and to once again serve the people of Lincoln,” Marvin says. “I look forward to working with our talented team to continue advancing projects that enhance our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and contribute to a strong future for our city.”
The City Council has to approve Marvin’s appointment.
