Woman Arrested For Firing Shots At Lincoln Apartment

Lincoln Police were sent to an apartment complex near 19th and Knox around 8:45 Thursday night on a report of gunshots being fired.  “While on scene, officers heard another gunshot,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.

According to witnesses, the shots were coming from a ground floor unit.  Thomas says officers contacted the resident at their apartment. “After initially not complying with officer orders, 25-year-old Mikayla Loeffelbein exited the apartment and was detained,” Thomas says.

During that time, Thomas says she made verbal threats toward a neighbor. “Officers searched the unit and located a handgun inside along with multiple cartridges.”  No one was injured by the and Thomas didn’t know what led to the gunshots being fired.

Loeffelbein was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for attempted assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony and terroristic threats.
