YMCA’s ‘Healthy Kids Day’ Party set for Saturday, April 12

The YMCA of Lincoln is hoping to spur an active, healthy summer for local youth this Saturday, April 12, with their annual ‘Healthy Kids Day’ event.

From 10:00am-12:00pm at the Fallbrook YMCA, 700 Penrose Drive, this free event features healthy activities, kid-friendly fitness demos, cook-along, bounce house, raffle drawings, and over 30 community vendors onsite. The event is sponsored nationally by Peanuts.

This event is apart of the Y’s national initiative to inspire healthy habits in kids and families ahead of the summer season.

Since the isolating lockdowns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lincoln Y has been working to get kids back outdoors, says Executive Director of Mission Advancement Dani Bryant.

“Really trying to get kids ways to stay active in different ways, instead of staying inside behind a screen. I know that is a big thing that we’ve continued to see in the public, said Bryant. “Through the YMCA, not just Healthy Kids Day, we have lots of programs and available for kids to stay active throughout the entire year, not just during the summer, but all year round.”

The event is free to attend, and they’re expecting hundreds of attendees. For more information, visit ymcalincoln.org.
