A Lincoln man is facing a long list of charges after police say he assaulted and held a man against his will. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says officers were sent to an apartment near 9th and ‘D’ Streets around 3:15 Sunday afternoon.
The 37-year-old victim told police a man known to him began knocking on his door around 1:30 a.m. “When he answered, 46-year-old James Duncan held him at gunpoint and told him he could not leave,” Thomas says.
The victim also told police Duncan fired a handgun three times in his vicinity but did not shoot him. He also told police he was hit in the head with the gun, causing pain and
swelling.
“He was able to escape at approximately 4:15 a.m. when Duncan got distracted by his dog getting loose,” Thomas says. On Monday investigators searched the apartment and found shell casings,
a live round and a bullet hole in the ceiling.
“Officers located Duncan near 9th and Washington streets and ultimately recovered two loaded magazines and two empty handgun cases,” Thomas says. Duncan was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for robbery, use of a firearm to commit a felony , 2nd degree assault, possession of a firearm by prohibited person, false imprisonment, kidnapping and terroristic threats.
