By Nate Rohr Apr 5, 2025 | 5:34 PM

Nebraska baseball started hot and surged late to defeat Rutgers, 10-5, Saturday at Hawks Field in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers clinch the conference series win over the Scarlet Knights with Saturday’s victory.

Case Sanderson got Nebraska on the board with an RBI groundout in the third inning. Then in the fourth, a two-run homer by Tyler Stone followed by a two-run home run by Ben Buettenback pushed the lead to 5-0. A Sanderson RBI single made it 6-0. Rutgers chipped away with four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, slicing NU’s lead to one. But in the bottom of the sixth, Riley Silva drove in a run with a groundout. The Huskers tacked on two in the seventh and one in the eight to secure the win.

Jalen Worthley earned the win for Nebraska, pitching 2.2 innings out of the Huskers’ bullpen while allowing an earned run and two hits. Landon Mack took the loss, allowing six earned runs in four innings pitched.

Joshua Overbeek led the Nebraska offense, hitting 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Stone was 2-for-3 with three RBI, a double and a home run. Ty Doucette paced the Scarlet Knights’ offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.

The Huskers try for the sweep Sunday at Hawks Field against Rutgers. First pitch is slated for noon, with pregame coverage at 11:30 a.m. on 105.3 The Bone.
