Purdue tops No. 20 Huskers

By Nate Rohr Mar 31, 2025 | 7:30 PM

Purdue snapped No. 20 Nebraska softball’s six-game winning streak and salvaged the final game of a three-game series with a 6-2 victory Monday night at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln. The loss was the Cornhuskers’ (26-9, 6-2 B1G) first at home this season.

Nebraska’s scoring came entirely from Hannah Camenzind, who hit solo home runs in the first and fifth innings for the Huskers, her first career multi-home run game.

But after being held to just one run the first 16 innings of the series, the Boilermakers (18-16, 3-7 B1G) burst out with three runs in the fifth. An RBI single tied the game before Jordyn Ramos drove in two runs with a single to center. After Camenzind’s second home run cut Purdue’s lead to 3-2, the Boilermakers responded in the sixth. With one out, Moriah Polar doubled to left. She moved to third when Sage Scarmardo reached on an error. Delaney Reefe ripped a two-run double to center to push the lead to 5-2, then Ramos followed with an RBI double to make it a four-run Purdue lead.

The Huskers had more than their share of scoring chances, but left 11 runners on base.

Madi Elish earned the win, allowing two earned runs in four innings. Julia Gossett threw three shutout innings to earn the save. Kylee Magee took the loss, allowing three earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched, her longest outing of the season.

Nebraska will now hit the road to take on Iowa in a three-game series starting Friday in Iowa City. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
