As Election Day 2025 nears for the City of Lincoln, local election officials are reminding residents the deadline to register to vote in the April 8th Primary Election is tomorrow Friday, March 28th at 6:00 PM. The general election is set for May 6th.
Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen says voters must now register to vote in person at the Election Commissioner’s Office since the online and postmark voter registration application deadlines have passed.
Commissioner Wiltgen emphasizes Friday, March 28th at 6:00 PM is also the deadline for voters to request an early vote ballot by-mail for the April 8th Primary Election. Tomorrow is the last day the Election Commission is permitted by law to receive an early vote by-mail ballot request.
State law permits any registered voter to cast an early ballot. However, voters must request that ballot in writing. An early vote request form is available on the Election Commissioner’s website at: lancaster.ne.gov/election.
In addition to providing their name, address and signature, voters must also include a Nebraska Driver’s License or State ID Number; or a photocopy of another valid photo identification; or a reasonable impediment certification. For more information about Nebraska Voter ID requirements, visit sos.nebraska.gov/voter-id.
The completed and signed application may be dropped off at any drop box location listed below:
- Election Commissioner’s Building, 601 North 46th Street
- Anderson Branch Library, 3635 Touzalin Avenue
- Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior Street

- Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th Street
A scanned copy or a readable photo of the completed and signed form may also be emailed to the office at: earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov.
The Election Commissioner’s office will be open extended hours until 6:00 PM on Friday, March 28th to accommodate both deadlines. Early voters will need to obtain their ballot in-person at the Election Commission starting Monday, March 31st.
Individuals who have questions should contact the Election Commissioner’s Office at (402) 441-7311.
