By Tom Stanton Mar 26, 2025 | 11:29 AM

An employee of Wally’s Tobacco and Vape near 13th and ‘O’ Street was arrested Tuesday afternoon after an argument turned violent. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says 21-year-old Waleed Assaidi began yelling at the victim after he refused to leave the sidewalk area in front of the store.

“The caller said Assaidi hit the victim multiple times with the handle of a snow shovel in the head and his hands,” Thomas says.  The victim also told police he was also hit with the blade of the
shovel.  The 37-year-old man suffered injuries to his head and right eye area.

Assaidi was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for 2nd degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
