Lincoln Police say a man and woman were arrested for stealing more than $58,000 worth of aluminum. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says on March 4th Bison, Inc. reported 300 Garrison modular aluminum floodgates for building doorways valued at $56,000 and two large containers of bulk aluminum valued at almost $1,500 had been stolen.
The total weight was nearly 4,600 pounds. “Two days later, 1,500 pounds of cast aluminum valued at $600 was stolen,” Thomas says. “On March 15, more aluminum was stolen
along with eight Apple airtags attached to the metal. Four were later recovered.
Thomas says during the investigation, photos of the stolen items were sent to the Alter Scrap metal recycling facility. “On March 17th the business called LPD to report a man and a woman trying to sell some of the stolen metal. Officers arrived and took the pair into custody without incident.”
47-year-old Jeremy Jackson and 43-year-old Deanna Abernathy were booked into in the Lancaster County Jail for theft by unlawful taking over $5,ooo.
