As a late winter blizzard hammered the state om Wednesday, Nebraska State Troopers were responded to nearly 500 weather-related incidents. Throughout the day and evening troopers performed 448 motorist assists and responded to 27 crashes.
Troopers also helped other agencies with 32 responses. Two troopers’ patrol vehicles were also struck while responding to incidents during the storm. One cruiser suffered significant damage and the other suffered minor damage.
No troopers or other drivers were injured in those incidents. As roadways continue to open on Thursday, NSP is urging drivers to reduce their speed and keep their focus on the road. Slick spots may still exist in areas that received snow on Wednesday.
Motorists should check Nebraska’s 511 system for updates on road closures and road conditions. Any motorist in need of assistance can call *55 to reach an NSP dispatcher with the NSP
Highway Helpline.
