By Nate Rohr Mar 16, 2025 | 6:03 PM

For the second straight day, Ohio State softball outslugged No. 21 Nebraska, winning 12-6 to clinch the series between two of the best offenses in college softball.

The Buckeyes (20-6-1) scored in the first inning for the third straight game, posting two runs. After the Cornhuskers (20-8) posted a run in the second, Ohio State scored two in the bottom of the second. NU tallied a pair in the top of the third, only to see OSU score five to take control of the game. The Huskers scored two in the sixth, but the Buckeyes answered with three in the six. Nebraska scored once in the seventh but drew no closer.

Lorin Boutte (10-4) earned the win, allowing three earned runs in four innings of relief. Kylee Magee (2-2) took the loss, allowing four earned runs in one inning of work.

Ava Bredwell led the Huskers’ offense, hitting 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI. Taylor Cruse paced OSU’s bats, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. Eight of Ohio State’s nine starting hitters had at least one hit.

The game does not count in the Big Ten standings. This was one of two two-game Big Ten series for Nebraska, and the teams agreed to play an additional non-conference game.

The Huskers are back in action Friday against Minnesota at Bowlin Stadium. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
