UCLA dominated Nebraska baseball in an 11-3 win Saturday in Los Angeles. The win clinched the Big Ten series for the Bruins (15-4, 4-1 B1G) while handing the Huskers (7-10, 1-4 B1G) their second straight Big Ten series loss.
Nebraska took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and held the lead until the bottom of the fourth, when UCLA posted three runs in the fourth. With six runs in the fifth, the Bruins locked the game down. NU scored single runs in the eighth and ninth while UCLA scored two in the eighth to cruise to victory.
Eight of the nine Bruins starters offensively had at least one hit. AJ Salgado paced the UCLA offense by going 2-for-4 with six RBI and two home runs. Blake Balsz was 3-for-4. Robby Bolin led Nebraska’s offense by going 3-for-4 with an RBI. No other Husker had more than one hit.
Michael Barrett (5-0) captured the win, allowing one earned run in five innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. Ty Horn (0-3) took the loss, allowing three earned runs in four innings.
