Lincolnites are letting their Irish flags fly this weekend for the 11th annual Saint Patrick’s Day festival hosted by McKinney’s Irish Pub in the Haymarket, 151 N 8th St.

Downtown’s preeminent Hibernian bar will be shutting down their block for the 2-day celebration, split this year between Saturday, Mar. 15, and Monday, Mar. 17.

McKinney’s Owner Nathan Stewart says it’ll be a classic celebration of the old sod, complete with a kilt contest, Lucky Charms eating race, traditional Irish bands… and enough green beer to fill Lough Neagh.

“We’re super excited, especially with reports of nice weather,” Steward told KLIN News. “We just want everyone to come out and enjoy it and have a good time. We hope this is something the community can do to get out of the house or enjoy after State Basketball.”

A bar of the people, there will be no cover charge to enter the festival. McKinney’s will open Saturday at 11 a.m., Monday at 9 a.m., and the street festival at 2 p.m. both days. The party goes till 2 a.m. each night.

Stewart says his staff will be serving up drink specials and their year-round Irish grub, including corned beef and cabbage, their “famous” Rueben sandwiches, bangers and mash, and more.

DJ Wyatt with Red 94.5 — KLIN’s sister station — will be providing music from 3-6 p.m. on Monday.
