Maintenance will close down the North First Street bridge over Oak Creek, between Charleston Street and Cornhusker Highway, beginning Monday, March 10.
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) says this work is expected to be completed by mid-July. The recommended detour route is Sun Valley Boulevard to North 11th Street to Cornhusker Highway.
Pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained during the project with brief closures occurring as necessary. Advance notice will be provided as needed. Business access will be maintained via Sun Valley Boulevard and Charleston Street. Individuals traveling to the Sandhills Global Youth Complex should use First Street and Cornhusker Highway.
Digital signs will alert traffic to upcoming work and closures. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around this closure.
