A Lincoln man is facing charges after police say he stabbed a man who refused to leave his apartment early Friday morning.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says just after 4:15 a.m. a 51-year-old man called police to say a man and woman who he knows refused to leave his apartment near 22nd and Washington streets.

“As officers were enroute, they were alerted that someone had been stabbed,” Thomas says.  When they arrived, officers found a 44-year-old man had was bleeding from a laceration on the right side of his back.

Thomas says the victim told officers Billie Schmidt stabbed him with a kitchen knife during an argument and then threatened the 42-year-old Lincoln woman with the knife.  She says the three had been drinking inside the apartment before the argument began.  Schmidt was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officers located a knife in the Schmidt’s bedroom. Thomas says Schmidt suffered a small laceration on his head that required treatment at the hospital before he was taken
to jail.

He was booked for 2nd degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and terroristic threats.
