A Lincoln was able to help police track down his stolen vehicle on Thursday. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says the man called police around 5:15 a.m. to report his gray 2016 gray Hyundai Tucson was believed to be stolen sometime overnight from an apartment complex near Folksway Boulevard and N. Hill Road.
“Around 2:30 p.m., dispatch advised the victim was actively following the suspects who were in his vehicle,” Thomas says. Officers made contact with the suspects in a parking lot in the area of
18th and Superior streets.
“Three juveniles ran off and officers followed, giving verbal commands for them to stop,” Thomas says. “All three were eventually taken into custody and marijuana was found in the coat pocket of one of the suspects.
A 17-year-old was cited and booked at the Youth Services Center for theft by receiving and obstructing a police officer. A 14-year-old was booked on the same charges along with possession of one ounce or less of marijuana.
An 11-year-old was referred and released to his guardian.
