A late winter blizzard closed LPS schools on Wednesday and kept LES crews and first responders busy Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. At one point more than 4,000 LES customers were without power as crews worked through the night.
As of early Wednesday morning that number was down to around 200. LES said some of the outages, several are the result of tree limbs falling on power lines and a few outages are from power lines getting tangled. In addition, car accidents have caused some power lines to go out and there are still some streetlights out in Lincoln.
Drivers will need to treat those intersections as a four way stop. LPD says one of those accidents was a rollover crash at Cotner and Adams. They say no one was injured.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning until noon Wednesday. Winds up to 40 mph with 60 mph gusts are possible, causing additional blowing and drifting snow. Streets around Lincoln are icy at there is limited visibility.
N. 33rd and Fletcher Avenue is closed due to a downed signal mast arm. To see the LES outage map click here.
