Alexis Markowski became the first Husker women’s basketball player to earn four first- or second-team all-conference honors, and Britt Prince was named to the Big Ten all-freshman team as the conference office released its All-Big Ten teams Tuesday afternoon.
Markowski earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from the media for the second consecutive season after leading the Huskers with 16.8 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game on the season. Her last seven games have been even more impressive as she’s averaged 24.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game to help Nebraska claim the No. 10 seed in the conference tournament. Markowski earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the conference’s coaches.
Two other Huskers, Emily Cady and Meggan Yedsena, were honored four times by the their respective conferences (Cady, Big Ten, 2012-15; Yessena, Big Eight 1991-94), but both were named honorable mention all-conference at least once. Only Markowski has earned first- or second-team all-conference honors in all four years in her career.
Prince was named Big Ten All-Freshman team after averaging 13.0 points per game and a team-leading 3.5 assists per game while becoming the fourth Nebraska player the last four seasons to earn Big Ten All-Freshman team honors.
