It was a sour Senior Day for Nebraska women’s basketball as Washington throttled the Huskers, 83-62, Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. After the Huskies went to the halftime locker room leading 39-37, Washington went on a 15-0 run in the third quarter as part of a dominant 10 minutes in which the Huskies stretched their lead to 60-42 with ten minutes to go and cruised from there to victory.

In the loss, senior forward Alexis Markowski turned in one more dominant game at Pinnacle Bank Arena, earning her 51st career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Petrie also notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, the first double-double of her career.

Nebraska was without freshman point guard Britt Prince for the second straight game, and her absence was felt. The Huskers turned the ball over ten more times than Washington, 15-5, and the Huskies converted those giveaways into 23 points compared to just six points off turnovers for NU. Washington also owned the paint, outscoring Nebraska in the free-throw lane 50-26.

Washington was led by 28 points by Elle Ladine on 11-for-18 shooting including four three-pointers, while Dalayah Daniels contributed 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting.

Nebraska has just one more regular season game: Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at Northwestern. Pregame coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. on B-107.3.
