Nebraska baseball could muster only three runs and nine hits as Louisiana swept the Huskers in a doubleheader, 4-1 and 10-2, Saturday in Lafayette, La. The losses dropped NU to 3-4 on the young season.

In game one of the doubleheader, Blake McGehee and Dylan Theut combined for 13 strikeouts while not yielding one walk in propelling the Ragin’ Cajuns to victory. Of the 13 strikeouts, six were looking. Louisiana tallied a run in the first, one in the fourth and two in the seventh to build a four-run lead before Nebraska scratched across a ninth-inning run to break the shutout. Dylan Carey was the lone Husker with an RBI, going 1-for-3 with a double. Ty Horn took the loss on the mound, allowing two runs and four hits in six innings.

Louisiana jumped on Nebraska in the second game, scoring five in the second, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to build a 10-1 lead. The Huskers tallied a run in the eighth, but drew no closer. Andrew Herrman threw a complete game for the Cajuns, allowing five hits while striking out nine to earn the win. Devin Nunez homered and Will Jesske drove in a run with a triple for the lone offensive bright spots for Nebraska. Will Walsh took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs (four earned) in two innings.

Nebraska will now look to rebound next week at the Frisco College Baseball Classic, starting Friday at 6 p.m. with a matchup against Sam Houston. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 p.m. on KLIN.
