Lincoln Police are investigating a bizarre incident on I-180 near the Cornhusker overpass. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas officers were sent there just before 10:00 Tuesday night. “The
preliminary investigation determined a 2012 red Buick Enclave traveling south between the Adams Street and Cornhusker overpass and collided with a guard rail in the center median,” says Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.
“A 20-year-old Lincoln man pulled over to help the driver of the SUV and the suspect got out of his damaged vehicle and into the victim’s 2007 Honda CR-V.” Thomas says the suspect the drove away in the car with a pair Apple AirPods inside.
“Just after midnight, 24-year-old Krisjanis Pool of Lincoln showed up at the Bryan West emergency room in the stolen vehicle for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.” Thomas says those injuries included broken bones.
Police recovered the SUV and the headphones. A bag containing suspected marijuana was found in Pool’s wallet. He was admitted to the hospital for his injuries and was cited and released for careless driving, driving under suspension, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, theft by unlawful taking and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
