LFR crews had to battle a four-alarm fire along with wind chills well below zero Tuesday morning near 25th and L Street. When firefighters arrived there was a house engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to two neighboring homes.
When KLIN News arrived on the scene there was heavy smoke filling the air that could be seen for several miles. One of the homes was destroyed and firefighters turned their attention to the neighboring homes.
Lierman says one of the homes was heavily damaged and the other was also damaged by fire. Due to the extreme cold, additional crews were called in to rotate with other firefighters. It’s not yet known what sparked the fire.
