98th Street Water Pipeline Project Open House Rescheduled

By Chase Porter Feb 18, 2025 | 3:35 PM

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities has rescheduled  the 98th Street Water Transmission Pipeline Project. The event, which was previously postponed on Feb 12 due to bad weather, will now be held be March 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robinson Elementary School near 102nd and Holdrege.

Project design information will be on display, and members of the project team will be available to answer questions and receive feedback. No formal presentation is planned.

The 98th Street Water Transmission Main will complete a critical connection between the Northeast Pump Station at 98th Street and Alvo Road and the Vine Street Reservoir. This second transmission main will increase capacity, improve system reliability, and serve as a key link to Lincoln’s future Missouri River water source.

The project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and is estimated to cost $36 million. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2025 and be completed by summer 2026. Work will take place in phases along 98th Street, with efforts made to minimize traffic impacts. To shorten the overall timeline, construction has been divided into two packages, with activities occurring concurrently.
