Nebraska State Trooper Killed Responding to Crash on I-80

By Chase Porter Feb 17, 2025 | 1:52 PM

A Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) trooper was killed Monday while responding to a crash on Interstate 80.

In a statement, NSP said they are “heartbroken” to report that a motor vehicle crash occurred while the trooper and others were responding to another crash between Ashland and Greenwood.

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office has been asked to conduct the crash investigation. I-80 remains closed between mile markers 420 and 426 at this time.

The name of the trooper will be released when appropriate.

As winter weather conditions continue across the state, NSP urges all motorists to be safe if they must travel. Additional details on this crash are forthcoming.
