A Lincoln man is dead after being shot near 13th and ‘E’ Streets just before noon Sunday. Officers were called to the area on a report of gunshots. “When officers arrived, they found a 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest,” says Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.
He was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died. Thomas says at this time they are not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of family members. “During the preliminary investigation, officers determined the victim and another individual had been walking on 13th Street between ‘E’ and ‘F’ when an unknown man in a dark-colored vehicle drove up beside them.
Thomas says he then shot the victim once in the chest. The suspect, 41-year-old Timothy Washington was arrested at 1:10 Sunday afternoon after a pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended in the area of 9th & Benton St. Washington is facing a 1st-degree murder charge and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
LPD says an hour later Washington stabbed a 40-year-old man in the neck and chest near 28th and ‘Y’ Street. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.
