A water main break in south Lincoln left behind a large hole near 20th and Lake streets.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, and a Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) crew responded to the break to apply granular salt pre-wet with brine to the area to assist with ice-melting.
LTU officials say the the break “displaced the subgrade under the street” and left behind a crater.
The service truck was became stuck in the hole momentarily until crews pulled it out.
This portion of street is expected to be closed until pavement an be laid on the street. An estimated timeframe for the closure is still being reviewed, according to LTU.
