Nebraska women’s basketball dropped its third straight game, this time to Iowa, 81-66, Monday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Hawkeyes never trailed and were led by the 32 points of Lucy Olsen. Fremont native Taylor McCabe added 17, while Sydney Afolter contributed 13. Nebraska was led Alberte Rimdal’s 20 points off the bench. Alexis Markowski added 15 while Logan Nissley tallied 11 points.

Iowa won the game with its perimeter shooting. The Hawkeyes hit 12-for-24 from behind the three-point line, draining five more three-pointers than the Huskers. Iowa also owned the paint, outscoring Nebraska in the free-throw lane, 34-18. The Hawks converted 12 offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points, while NU grabbed just four offensive rebounds and scored just three second-chance points.

Iowa dominated early, but a late Husker run cut UI’s lead to 16-13 after one quarter. The Hawkeyes led 38-35 at half, before pulling away in the third quarter to build a 60-46 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Things don’t get any easier for the Huskers, as Nebraska heads to 17th-ranked Maryland Thursday. Pregame coverage begins at 5 p.m. with tipoff at 5:30 p.m. on B-107.3.
