A 28-year-old man has been ticketed in connection with a fatal crash last August. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says Parker Durham was cited and released for reckless driving. Investigators say he was driving west on W. Denton Road between 1st and S. Folsom just before 1 a.m. when he struck a pedestrian.
“Durham told officers he saw he saw a pedestrian in the road, swerved to miss them but struck another pedestrian, later identified as 25-year-old Rico Benavidez.” He was taken to a Lincoln hospital where he died.
“The investigation determined Durham was driving at least 81 mph in a 45 mph zone,” Thomas says “That speed, combined with known dangers in the area, constituted reckless driving.”
