The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a homicide that happened late Saturday night in Seward. Just before midnight Seward County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a home in the 600 block of North 2nd Street.
An NSP spokesman says officers arrived and found a man leaving the residence. The man, identified as 54-year-old Casey Kindt was suffering from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Inside the residence, officers located a woman dead from gunshot wounds. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Jamie Hagen. Kindt was transported to Seward Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been transferred to UNMC in Omaha for additional treatment. Troopers are maintaining custody of Kindt during his medical treatment.
Officers also found a juvenile inside the home. NSP says the juvenile had made the initial call to 911 and was unharmed. Investigators have discovered that the suspect and victim were previously in a relationship.
Hagen had since been granted a protection order against Kindt. After the preliminary investigation, it is believed that Kindt entered the home, shot Hagen multiples times and then shot himself.
