Beckius Appointed to Public Safety Advocacy Committee

By Tom Stanton Feb 7, 2025 | 8:46 AM

Lincoln City Councilman Tom Beckius has been appointed to the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee.

Beckius will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, gun violence, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness, response and recovery and homeland security.

“I look forward to working with other elected representatives from across the nation on public safety efforts and advocate for how cities such as Lincoln can benefit from federal support and
resources,” Beckius says. “It’s an exciting opportunity to dive deeper on issues of public safety and help shine a light on areas of special focus and need in the coming years.”

As a member of the committee Beckius will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress and with the Trump Administration.

Beckius is the only representative serving from the state of Nebraska.
