Lincoln Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who stole tens-of-dollars from a car wash coin machine and a burglary suspect who chaotically smash into a local smoke shop and stole dozens of items.
The first case occurred around 4 a.m. on January 20, 2025, at a coin operated car wash near NW 1st Street and Fletcher Avenue.
Video Forensics Technician for the Lincoln Police Department Becky Keller says local security cameras captured a vintage 1987-1997 Ford F150 pickup truck arrive and strategically park so the camera could not get a clear view of what happened. But the car wash owner reports the coin machine appeared to have a hole drilled into it.
The bandit made away with $50 worth of coins. The damage caused to the machine will cost the business about $1000.
Keller described the truck as “super unique,” saying its probably one of the last ones left on the road anymore. The truck is red, with custom black wheels, and a charcoal stripe down the side of it. It also had multiple lighter colored stickers on the back window.
Video and photos from the incident are available below.
The second case occurred around 12:00 a.m. on January 29, 2025, at the G-&-G Smoke Shop near 27th & Randolph Street.
Keller says cameras captured an individual carrying a green bucket used a pry bar like tool to break open the front glass door.
The individual climbed inside and ran to a display where they loaded up over $1500 worth of various product. They fled by hopping onto a nearby stashed bicycle, riding northbound on S. 27th Street.
