LPD Wraps Up Red Light, Stop Sign Enforcement Campaign

By Tom Stanton Feb 5, 2025 | 11:40 AM

Lincoln Police have released the results of a traffic enforcement project that focused on red light and stop sign violations during the month of January.  Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says officers worked overtime to monitor intersections and areas where red light and stop sign violations most commonly occur.

“There 213 total citations issued and 172 traffic stops.”  Thomas says the highest number of citations issued by officers was 66 for no registration.  Officers also cited 35 drivers for stop sign violations and 27 for running red lights.

There were a variety of other citations issued, including speeding, no seat belts and no insurance.  The project was made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
