A Lincoln native is following in her dad’s footsteps, and those are big shoes to fill.
Jadyn Cree Olesen, the 24-year-old daughter of Bryan Olesen, sung Paramore’s “Still Into You” for her blind audition on Monday’s season 27 premiere of NBC’s The Voice.
Aficionados of The Voice will recognize her dad, who took 3rd place in 2024 on season 25 of the vocalist competition show. In fact, Jadyn’s audition is technically not her debut on the show, as she joined her dad on stage for a one-off duet of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On” last year.
Bryan tearfully cheered for his daughter during her performance, which turned the chairs of judges Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini.
“Your voice stands out and it pierces through in a way that makes it grab peoples attention,” said judge John Legend, who coached her dad in season 25.
“There was something about you voice that reminded me of a 90’s pop voice that I love so much,” said judge of Maroon 5 fame Adam Levine. “I feel like I missed out because I think you’re going to really go far on the show because there’s nobody like you.”
Bryan later joined his daughter on stage, reacquainting with past coach and landing a compliment from Levine on his mohawk hair style.
The Olesen family has become a staple in Lincoln’s local music scene. After finishing his stint, Bryan held performances at a number of local concert venues. Jadyn is the lead vocalist for the popular local 80’s cover band AMFM.
In the end, Jadyn chose to join Team Bublé. Watch her chair-turning audition below.
