LPD Searching for Tire Thief, Propane Cage Vandal

By Tom Stanton Jan 29, 2025 | 6:00 AM

This week Lincoln Crime Stoppers is looking for help in tracking down a couple of suspects.   On Thursday, January 23rd, a couple in the area of 76th and Holdrege reported having tires delivered to their house.

“Before they could retrieve them, an unknown person drove by their house, saw them, circled back around, drove up onto the sidewalk, and loaded up the tires into their light colored Chevy Mailbu,” says LPD’s Becky Keller.   “The tires were valued at just under $2,000 so a pretty big loss on this delivery theft.”

The second incident also happened January 23.  Ace Hardware reported an attempted burglary that occurred at their store in Havelock.  “They reported around 3am someone appeared on camera and tried to cut the lock off of the propane cage using a cordless grinder,” Keller says.   “They were unsuccessful in their very dangerous attempt, and left empty handed.”

Keller says if anybody knows anything about these cases they are encouraged to contact Lincoln Police at (402) 441-6000 to speak with an officer, or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600.
