A sculpture reflecting family, landscapes, and New Mexican roots will debut at a Lincoln library on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The ceramic carved torso, “Heritage,” was created by sculpture artist Eddie Dominguez, an Emeritus Professor from the School of Art, Art History and Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) and Public Art Lincoln invite the community to the sculpture’s unveiling ceremony at the Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior St. The free dedication event begins at 4:30 p.m. in the main lobby of the library and will feature remarks by Dominguez.

The piece will be on loan to LCL through the Museum of Nebraska Art for five years.

“Public art sparks connection and conversation in our community,” said Ryan Wieber, LCL Director. “By partnering with Public Art Lincoln and the Museum of Nebraska Art, we’re able to bring a captivating work of art into a welcoming public space.”

Dominguez has exhibited his work in more than 45 solo and 150 group exhibitions throughout his four-decade career. His pieces are part of museum and gallery collections nationwide, including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art and The Sheldon Memorial Art Museum.
