Lincoln Police say an officer was on patrol around 2:30 Sunday morning when he saw two groups of people fighting in front of Raising Canes near 14th and P Street.  When the officer contacted the groups, an assault was reported,” says Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.

She says the officer then contacted the person responsible for the assault, but he did not comply with several lawful orders.  “While the officer was arresting 21-year-old Jecory Harris of Lincoln, he resisted being placed in handcuffs,” Thomas says.   After being escorted to a police cruiser Thomas says Harris kicked his leg, striking the officer on the side of his face, nose and cheek.

Harris was taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for third-degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and obstructing a peace officer.
