Lincoln Police were called Thursday, Jan. 23, around 7:45 a.m. after a man said he was assaulted and knocked unconscious near 21st and ‘G’ streets
The 59-year-old victim from Lincoln was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a laceration to his forehead and a brain bleed. At last check, he was in critical but stable condition.
During the investigation, police determined 40-year-old Tyron Canby and the victim had both been at an apartment nearby about an hour before the initial call for service. Canby struck the victim with an object multiple times, knocking him unconscious.
Police have not determined what item was used.
The victim later woke up and was able to walk to the nearby parking lot seeking help.
Officers executed a search warrant on the apartment and found Canby and another individual hiding in a closet. Canby was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail, charges with 1st degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
