No one was hurt after a house fire in north Lincoln Monday night. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews were called to the area of 34th and Prairie View Drive around 6:15.  The fire was on the deck that spread into the attic space.

In addition to the flames, firefighters had to deal with the extreme cold and that led to a call for additional manpower. “We upgraded for crews because of the temperatures,” Lierman says.  “The initial ones made a good stop and then we recycled them so we’re not getting everybody too cold out there.”

She says the water used to fight the fire quickly froze the ground and firefighters gear.  Two people inside the home managed to get out safely. Damaged is estimated at $50,000 and the cause is not yet known.
