Nebraska women’s basketball continued its recent roll with a 91-60 victory over Wisconsin Monday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The win moved the Huskers (15-4, 6-2 B1G) to 12-0 at home this season and was Nebraska’s fifth straight victory.
Kendall Moriarty led the Huskers in scoring off the bench with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Jessica Petrie turned in one of her best nights as a Huskers with 15 points and seven rebounds. Britt Prince tallied 14 points and seven rebounds. Alexis Markowski added 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting, and Petra Bozan contributed 10 points off the bench on 4-for-4 shooting.
Nebraska solidly outshot Wisconsin (10-9, 1-7 B1G), hitting 54 percent of its shots compared to 38 percent made by the Badgers. The Huskers were even better from distance, hitting 16-for-32 from behind the arc for 50 percent while Wisconsin was 3-for-17 from three-point range.
The first quarter was fairly closely contested until Nebraska scored eight of the last 10 points to build an 18-14 lead through one period. The Badgers tied the game at 18 early in the second quarter, but the Huskers erased all doubt from the contest with an 18-1 run to build a 36-19 with just under four minutes to play until halftime. Nebraska went into halftime leading 42-26. The Huskers held control through the third quarter, leading 69-47, and cruised in from there to victory.
