The Lincoln woman who impersonated the mother of 28-year-old Zachary Scheich, who posed as a 17-year-old high school student during the 2022-23 school year and sexually assaulted multiple minors, was fined $2,000 on Thursday after pleading no contest to misdemeanor criminal impersonation and child abuse.
24-year-old Angela Navarro had charges of felony impersonation dismissed as part of a plea deal, KLIN Media partner 10/11 Now reports.
Navarro was arrested in September of 2023 after investigators with the Lincoln Police Department identified her as the woman who impersonated Scheich’s guardian and helped him register for classes.
Under the alias “Zak Hess,” Scheich attended 54 days at Lincoln Northwest and Southeast High Schools, where he created false documents and an elaborate backstory. Multiple classmates of Schiech came forward as being sexually assaulted by the man off school grounds.
In 2024, Scheich was sentenced to 85–120 years in prison, with parole eligibility in over 40 years, and must register under Nebraska’s Sex Offender Act.
