Attempted Robbery Leads to Pursuit, Shots Fired

By Tom Stanton Dec 30, 2024 | 12:02 PM

Lincoln Police are searching for suspects after a shot was fired at a vehicle during a pursuit early Sunday evening. Public Information Officer Erica Thomas says a 22-year-old woman was contacted on Facebook asking to buy AirPods.

The two agreed to meet in the parking lot of the Lodge Apartments at 4600 Briarpark Drive.  “The victim told police a red SUV with two men inside pulled up behind the Durango she and three others were in, blocking the parking stall,” Thomas says.

“The men got out and approached their vehicle, trying to open the door. The Durango driver then pulled up onto the grass to exit the parking stall.”  Thomas says the two men returned to the SUV and began to chase the Durango.

“During the chase, the victim told police someone in the red SUV fired a single gunshot at them while on Old Cheney between 31st and 27th Streets,
striking the front driver fender,” Thomas says.

It caused about $1,500 in damage. The chase eventually ended and officers were able to contact the victims.  Thomas reminds residents that LPD has a designated Swap Spot location at their Northwest Team substation near 27th and Holdrege.  The public can meet in these stalls daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Learn more about it by clicking here.
