Cold start sinks Huskers at Georgia Tech

By Nate Rohr Dec 21, 2024 | 9:10 PM

A cold shooting start sunk No. 24 Nebraska in a 72-61 loss at No. 17 Georgia Tech. The Huskers (10-2) shot just 8-for-31 (.258) from the field and just 1-for-12 from three-point range in the first half, before rallying in the second half. Nebraska shot much better in the second half, 15-for-36 from the field (.417) and 5-for-12 from behind the arc, but the damage was done and the hill too tall to climb.

Alexis Markowski scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, while Britt Prince added 11 points and a career-high eight rebounds. Logan Nissley hit three three-points en route to 11 points. Dani Carnegie led the Yellow Jackets (13-0) in scoring with 20 points off the bench, while Kara Dunn turned in a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Chazadi Wright came off the bench to add 16 points for Georgia Tech.

After a break for Christmas, the Huskers resume Big Ten play at No. 1 and undefeated UCLA on Dec. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
