Winter Weather Advisory Brings Risk of Freezing Rain Friday

By Steven Hardesty Dec 13, 2024 | 5:55 AM

The first Winter Weather Advisory of the season goes into effect this afternoon at 2:00 until 9:00 am Saturday Morning. Lead Meteorologists with the National Weather Service Clint Aegerter tells KLIN News the main risk will be for freezing rain, but snowfall will be minimal.

“It might be a little bit later to start. For the evening commute, I’m not going to completely rule out some impacts… But for the most part, I think the evening commute across our area is going to be pretty smooth,” says Aegerter. “The big question, there’s a lot of events going on tonight, and it’s probably going to start getting slick when people are out doing those things.”

The freezing rain will switch to all rain in the overnight and conditions will improve moving into Saturday morning. Aegerter says temperatures by Sunday will be in the low 50’s and hold steady in the mid 40’s for the start of the work week on Monday.
