The search is on for a driver who crashed a stolen car following two pursuits with LSO deputies early Friday morning. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says it all began around 1:00 a.m. at Highway 77 and Roca Road.

“A deputy clocked the KIA speeding and attempted to stop it.  The KIA failed to stop and the deputy pursued it,” Houchin says.  The pursuit was terminated near Roca due to safety reasons.  Another deputy spotted the car near Highway 77 and Saltillo Road around 2:30.

“The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and again it fled,” Houchin says.  “It also shut it’s lights off and speeds got over 100 miles per hour, so the individual driving was putting a lot of people in danger.”

That pursuit was terminated as it approached Highway 33 and SW 14th Street. Houchin says around 7:00 a.m. deputies found the KIA at SW 128th and and W. Stagecoach Road near the village of Kramer.  The car was involved in a rollover crash and was totaled.  The driver was no where to be found.

“We would love to find out who did this,” Houchin says.  “Not only did they deprive somebody of their vehicle, they put people in danger.  Speeds over 100 and turning your lights off, not a brilliant idea.”
