Despite shooting a season-worst 29.8 percent for the game, No. 24 Nebraska women’s basketball defeated Tarleton State, 63-50, Wednesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Britt Prince paced the Huskers with 19 points including three three-pointers. Amiah Hargrove added a career-high 13 points on an efficient 5-for-6 shooting, while Alexis Markowski tallied 15 points and six rebounds. Markowski hit the 1,500-point milestone in her Huskers career. She became just the fourth player in school history with 1,500 career points and 1,500 career rebounds, joining Karen Jennings, Kelsey Griffin and Jordan Hooper.
Nebraska answered the Texans’ tough defensive effort by forcing 21 TSU turnovers and 38.5 percent shooting. Tarleton State also hacked the Huskers 23 fouls, and Nebraska cashed in those fouls for 22 points at the free-throw line, compared to just two points by the Texans from the free-throw line. Nebraska now prepares to face Chattanooga Sunday at Noon at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Pregame coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. on 105.3 The Bone.
