National Wreaths Across America Day will be held across the nation this weekend, with wreath laying events scheduled in 4,600 different communities. Lincoln’s Wyuka Cemetery will hold it’s own on Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Organizer Sheila O’Connor tells KLIN News the event will honor each veteran who made the ultimate sacrifice since the American Revolution.

After opening remarks from Major General Craig Strong with the Nebraska National Guard, volunteers will be laying more than 2,000 wreaths at the graves of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The event will be held in Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 “O” Street, on Solider Circle. Attendees are asked to enter from Vine Street.

O’Connor says more than 2 million volunteers will be making these dedication events possible across the nation.
