Lincoln Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying an individual who cut off and stole two gas tanks from parked cars, and a driver suspected in a traffic sign hit-and-run.

The first case occurred around on October 15, 2024, at an auto shop near 11th Street and Cornhusker Highway.

Video Forensics Technician for the Lincoln Police Department Becky Keller says the victims in this case left their vehicles in the shop’s parking lot, and later discovered their gas tanks to be missing.

Security footage reveals a person messing around near those vehicles, pulling a wagon behind them. The suspect appears to have cut the gas tanks off two cars, and loaded them in his wagon. Each tank is valued at $1,000, respectively.

Video and pictures of the incident can be viewed below.

The second case occurred on December 4, 2024, in the area of 57th Street and Briar Rosa Drive.

A witness called Lincoln Police after hearing what she described as tires screeching outside her residence in the area.

Upon looking outside her window, she observed a white Ford Escape which hit a traffic sign and knocked it over. The witness says the female driver pulled over, exited her vehicle, observed the damage to her front passenger side, then drove off.

The caller provided an image to Lincoln Police. Home security footage was also obtained by police. Both can be viewed below. Keller reminds residents that the suspect’s Ford Escape may have fresh front passenger damage.

If you have information on either of these cases, contact Lincoln Police at (402) 441-6000 to speak with an officer, or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600. An anonymous tip can be left online through lincolncrimestoppers.com
