An 85-year-old Lincoln man has been cited after crashing into an ambulance that was rushing a patient to the hospital around 3:15 Thursday afternoon. “The preliminary investigation indicates the ambulance was driving south on 48th approaching the intersection of ‘O’ Street with lights and sirens activated,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.

“The SUV was driving east on ‘O’ Street when it collided with the right side of the ambulance.”  Thomas says based on witness statements it’s believed the ambulance had a red light but took the the necessary precautions before going through the intersection.

LFR confirms the medic unit was transporting a patient to Bryan East.  Another ambulance was sent to the scene and completed the transport.
