Two Injured After Trailer Fire in North Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Dec 5, 2024 | 1:39 PM
Lincoln firefighters battled flames and the extreme cold near 33rd and Cornhusker around 7:30 Thursday morning.  LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews found heavy black smoke and flames coming from a tree line when they arrived.
She says crews investigated and found fire coming from one of three abandoned semi-trailers parked in the area.  “It was starting to spread to a second trailer that was sitting right next to it,” Lierman says.
She says two people were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of their injuries.  LPD says the trailer was being used by homeless individuals trying to stay warm.  Firefighters dumped a thousand gallons of water on the fire.
Police say the fire is being ruled as an accident.
