Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested a Lincoln man following a pursuit late Monday night. Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says a trooper saw a Buick sedan run a red light at the intersection of NW 20th and West O Street in Lincoln.
“The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated westbound on West O Street.” Thomas says the trooper then began a pursuit. “As the vehicle exited Lincoln westbound on Highway 6 and turned southbound on SW 98th Street, the NSP AirWing took over the pursuit from the air.”
Thomas says NSP pilots tracked the vehicle as it continued on county roads. After approximately 20 minutes, a Milford Police officer was able to successfully deploy stop sticks to slow the vehicle.
“The driver parked near a residence in Milford and fled on foot into a wooded area,” Thomas says. Troopers, along with officers from Milford PD and the Seward County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area.
Thomas says at around 10:40 p.m. the driver, 27-year-old Jesse Stinson, exited the wooded area and was taken into custody without further incident. Troopers found suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Stinson was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license and several active warrants. He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
